Hair Journey

Loosing the length:
I really needed a hair cut but didn't want to spend too much a month before it was gone. I was also told that it is less traumatic when it falls out if it isn't long. Loosing the length wasn't that big of a deal. I've done it many times. The bangs though, now that was something I haven't had in a long time.

Fun with color:
Blonde Take ONE

Why not have some fun with color? I didn't need to worry about "damaging" my hair and I can go crazy with it, knowing it will only be around for another three weeks. My friends voted and blonde won. My Sister Nikki and I had a great time doing it.

So here it is...

Mom came by too for the unveiling and to snap some pics.

WHAT!  That ain't blonde.

Let's try again...

Blonde take TWO
Nikki and I headed up the street to Walgreen's and decided we needed to go all the way.  "Natural Blonde" wasn't enough.  We needed "Super Blonde"!!

Much Better! Yeah, yeah, I know - Red and Yellow make Orange. LOL
Now let's spice it up even more with some breast cancer ribbon PINK! Orange and pink go together I think, don't they?

The Buzz:
Within days of my second chemo treatment it started to fall out fast. The clumps in the shower wrapped around my fingers were just too much for me. I asked Jeff to buzz it short. Abby held the dog so he wouldn't get into the hair and Grace filmed it all.

Bald:
The buzz lasted only 5 days. Every hair root hurt when you touched my scalp or moved the hair. Hats were painful and I had so many bald spots I couldn't go without one. We went ahead and shaved it off. I didn't take a picture for a while. I needed to get used to it. The picture below was taken a week later.

Coming Back:
About four weeks after my last Adriamycin / Cytoxan treatment (the first round of chemo - two drugs) I started to notice fuzz on my head.  It was confusing since I was still on chemo and even the second round had hair loss side effects.  I've since talked to the doctor about it, wondering if it meant the drug wasn't working as well and he told me it isn't like it used to be. Not all chemo drugs are "no pain / no gain" anymore.  Ahhhh, that sounded nice to me.
