QUALITY TIME WITH HUBBY
This past weekend Jeff and I celebrated out 22nd wedding anniversary. 22 YEARS, Oh my! When I think about all we have been through..... struggling to eat and pay bills, me wrecking the car ...again, Jeff's heart problems, struggles starting a family, extended family trauma, Jeff's health again, and then my breast cancer, I can't believe how far we have come. And I can't imagine doing it without him.
This past weekend we took a romantic trip to French Lick and stayed at West Baden. It was like a trip back in time to a much simpler era. My energy is still low and I can't walk too much without feeling like I've gone 10 times as far. Jeff was so understanding and attentive. He didn't once make me feel like I was holding him back. Stairs seem to be the hardest for me. After walking up several, without even asking, he quickly found a comfortable place for us to rest until I was ready to move on.
Saturday we took a stroll through the garden and saw several deer walking around relatively unafraid. We also took in some wine and tea tasting. YUM. I picked out a special bottle to save for when radiation is done. While at the French Lick Casino for dinner we bet a whopping $4 and left with $23. :-) We're not gamblers so that was big winnings for us! It just about paid for dinner.
Jeff tried to get us a horse and carriage ride for that evening but it was booked. boooo Instead we sat on the large patio in some comfy rockers and had a nice glass of wine (me) and cigar (Jeff). Afterwards we wondered the hotel and found a game room where we took in a game of pool.
Sunday I rested, and on Monday got in a long day at the office in preparation for being out the rest of the week. My last chemo session was on Tuesday. I reflected on it during my drive home and was warmed when I pulled into the drive way and looked up at the sky. Ribbons of Pink weaved through the beautiful sunset welcomed me home.
